As if I don’t talk about Randy being awesome enough as it is, I get more news solidifying this fact. Obviously I have mentioned his impressive victories in the heavyweight division at the age of 44. I found out today that Randy’s most recent fight against Gabriel Gonzaga was fought with a broken arm. That’s right a man who was twice the age of Gonzaga managed to beat the superior skill and strength presented against him….with a broken arm. Apparently this happened in round 3 as a result of blocking one of Gonzaga’s high kicks. “After the fight, the doc check my hand and checked everything and I just thought it was a real good bruise, a good deep bone bruise,” said Couture. For any of you who have ever broke something, the correlation between a “bone bruise” and a broken arm is hard to imagine. Regardless of this fact, Randy went on to say
“By the end of that evening, that night, and the next morning it was very swollen and I couldn’t pronate or supinate my hand, you know turn my wrist back or forth. I realized at that point that I might have a broken bone in there. I went to the chiropractor that afternoon and he has an x-ray machine and he put it up there on the screen and sure enough it was broke clean through.” For those of you who do not yet respect Randy, I fail to see what else he has to prove. This is simply an amazing feet after another for the veteran fighter. Way to go Randy.
