Quinton Jackson vs. Dan Henderson
A lot of people here are going to take Jackson because of his Ortiz style attitude and his multiple dominant victories over former champ Chuck Liddell. I on the other hand will be sticking with Henderson for multiple reasons. First off Henderson has Olympic wrestling experience, while Rampage only has junior college experience. So if this fight does go to the ground, it will be a mimic of the Randy Couture vs. Tito Ortiz fight. So if it does go to the ground, Henderson can outwrestle Jackson on the ground easily.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves, the fight is most likely to be all striking and maybe come clinch. No matter how good you are on the ground a good placed punch can take a fighter out of his element. Unfortunately for Quinton, it seems Henderson enjoys being punched. What most people have failed to realize is that Jackson signature win is by knockout (technical or not). Dan Henderson has never been knocked out. With Henderson’s wrestling experience, Jackson will keep the fight standing up in hopes of capturing a KO. However Dan Henderson has “heavy hands” so it comes down to Jackson’s defense, which in his last 5 fights has been less then stellar. Top it all off with that gay barking thing he does, and we have got our winner.
Prediction: Dan Henderson
Mirko Cro Cop (crap) vs. Cheick Kongo
Mirko Cro Crop has come off a disappointing (but expected) loss, while Cheik Kongo is coming off a big win. This fight will most likely determine who gets the next shot at Randy’s coveted belt, not that it will matter. These two fighters are arguably the best strikers in their division, which makes me think that Cro Crop is going to play it a little safer, but still look for a dominant KO victory. In no way would I expect a ground battle unless Kongo believes he can win there. Kongo has a good submission defense and I would definitely give the fight to him if it went to the ground. Though I believe Cro Cop is overhyped I still think he will pull this fight off, though probably in a modest manner. Just in time to get embarrassed by Randy.
Prediction: Mirko Cro Cop
Matt Hamill vs. Michael Bisping
Though I haven’t been able to fully watch the Ultimate Fighter season 3 yet, from my limited exposure I understand that Hamill had to leave the show because of a injury. Both fighters are undefeated, and both are extremely talented. Though Michael Bisping won the series, Matt Hamill proved to be one of the more talented fighters in the series. I have seen both fighters in the octagon and I still have to give the fight to Michael Bisping. He has systematically been dismantling opponents with his impressive submission defence and striking abilities. On the other side Matt Hamill has seemed to be a bit unfocused in his fights. Though Hamill has been praised for his wrestling skills, particularly his strength, his fights have been sloppy at best. If this goes to the ground, Hamill will win it, but Bisping generally has the advantage against takedowns and on the stand up. Look for Hamill to make every attempt to take to the ground, and look for Bisping to end it fast.Prediction: Michael Bisping
Tomasz Drwal vs. Thiago Silva
I don’t expect this fight to go beyond the first round as both fighters have a history of first round knock outs. Silva’s victory of James Irvin was impressive enough to convince me he will make quick work over Drwal.Prediction: Thiago Silva
Marcus Davis vs. Paul Taylor
I’ve seen Paul Taylor is two of his undercard fights, and he has been generally impressive. Marcus Davis has more wins and over more credible opponents. Giving this fact, Davis has got to get the edge.Prediction: Marcus Davis
Houston Alexander vs. Alessio Sakara
Sakara has one win and two losses in his last 3 fights. Those have been less than impressive. Then you have Houston Alexanders surprising win over Keith Jardine. I haven’t seen a lot of Alexander but I’ll put my faith in his ability to end Jardene in a puny 48 seconds. This is not to mention that Jardene is much tougher then Dean Lister or Drew McFedries by a long shot.
Prediction: Houston Alexander
