New iPod Lineup is Here

iPod Touch          iTouch Guied Tour

No you’re not looking at the new iPhone, your looking at the brand spanking new iTouch. That’s right Apple has once again completely redesigned its entire iPod lineup. Of course you can still get the classic and nano designs as well, but not the feature loaded components found in the iTouch. It’s all relative of course, as the iTouch is basically the iPhone scaled down. In fact think of the iTouch as the 30 gigabyte classic and the iPhone as the 80 gigabyte classic.

The iTouch has the same resemblance as the iPhone in that it sports a beautiful 3.5-inch display and Wi-fi capabilities. However, even with these new features the iPod Touch is overpriced and overvalued. For 8GB you have to foot a steep $299 bill, and a puny 16GB iTouch is around $399. These costs are hard to justify when a cool 160 GB iPod Classic is only $349. I guess that’s the price of added features.

What the arrival of this new style of iPod has done, in a weird sort of inverted marketing way, is draw more attention to its counterpart, the iPhone. The iPhone houses some of the coolest features on the market right now, including the typical 2.0 megapixel camera, Bluetooth headphones, internet capability and storage adaptability. Couple with the fact that this device is plain and simple the most premier piece of mobile technology on the market today. Personally it is now a race between the Motorokr Z6 and the iPhone.

For me it’s all about simplicity and style, so the emergence of such a sleek one touch device that I had initially naively overlooked has become more of a possibility as time goes on. Carrying around one sleek device, instead of your phone, camera and iPod devices is both simple and stylish. If I decide to pick myself up an iPhone it will most likely be late next year when the 2nd generation models are released free from some initial errors and when new software releases can improve product stability. Until then, keep in mind the older iPod models will be going dirt cheap, so I would pick one of those up simply for the deal.
